The Week of 3/12 – 3/16

Mar-12-2018 By Amy Ellis

Hello everyone!

I hope you are all doing well.

We have a lot going on and so I wanted to touch base with everyone.

First, our Fun Run pledge-drive is in full-swing. Hopefully your student brought home information on this (a paper crown and flyer). You may have also received emails from the school. This fun event will be held on Mar. 19. 5th grade’s time is 1-2 pm. All students receive a free T-shirt that day for the event. Parents can come cheer us on. These pledges go to the PTA to fund all of our fun events.

The last day of 3rd quarter (Can you believe it?) is Friday. It will be an EARLY OUT day. Report cards should go home around Mar. 23rd.

We have been working in class on 2 essays: May I Take Your Order and Two Fools. These are due by midnight on Mar. 16th and are submitted through For passwords or questions, please email me. We will have 3 more essays to work on in the weeks ahead. I will give you the due dates on those soon.

Also, if you haven’t already, mark your calendars for our fun event, The Living Wax Museum. It is on Mar. 23 in the morning til 12:00. Your student received a part and a big packet. Due dates for each separate part of the assignment are on the light yellow page. the rough draft (blue page) was due last Friday. I only had 6 students turn these in! The report and  script for the oral presentation (green page) are due in class this Friday 3/16. If you need poster board for the big day, students may get that from Mrs. Brown. Email me with questions. Students will receive 3 grades on this 1) Done on time 2) Report and 3) Oral Presentation.

A look ahead: No school mar. 30 – Apr. 8 for spring break.

Thanks for all your support!

Field Trips

Feb-23-2018 By Amy Ellis

We have 2 field trips coming up. A yellow permission slip was given to the students today with information about both of them. Please look for that and return it no later than 3-5, but the sooner the better please. We are going to N. Ogden Junior to see Shrek 3/6 and on 3/9 to Weber High to see Little Shop of Horrors. Email with any questions.

Parents, unfortunately, will not be able to attend, due to limited seating at both of these events.

Just a few reminders for the week: Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are all early out days for conferences.  I am looking forward to seeing you! Thanks for making your appointment through the portal.

We will be going to library Wed.  and won’t have PE this week due to the shortened days.

Friday we are having a read-a-thon in the morning. I will provide snacks. Students will not be bringing them this time. Please have your child make sure they have a good book. They may bring a blanket, pillow, stuffed animal, and wear PJs if they wish. PJs must be school appropriate and warm enough for recess.

Tomorrow is boxtop day.

Have a great week!

The Week of 1/22 – 1/26

I just wanted to make sure you all saw your student’s report card, which went home in the red folder Friday. Please email me if you have any questions about your child’s grades or we can talk at the next conference.

Today I gave all of the students a yellow piece of paper for you to sign indicating that you received their report card. I told the kids they could get a candy for bringing them back. I like to make sure they made it to you.

We have a field trip to The Treehouse Friday. Please send the permission slip back ASAP.

In the next day or two you should be receiving an email from the school with the directions to schedule your conference appointment. Conference appointments are filled on a first-come-first-served  basis, so if you need a specific time, please book it as soon as you get the email from the school. If you are unable to come during the time slots that are listed, please email me and we’ll figure something out.

Thanks! Have a great week!

I love your kids and being their teacher!

Parent-Teacher conferences will be on Feb. 7th, 8th, and 9th. Please email me at

This week, PE will be on Friday the 19th, so please bring gym shoes that day instead of Thursday.
