CTE Intro Disclosure Statement

All seventh grade students in Utah are enrolled in Introduction to Career Technology Education (CTE), an award-winning program designed to give students opportunities to learn about them, explore the world of work, and begin the development of their personal Student Education Occupational Plan (SEOPs).

The students will spend one semester with Miss Cluff, and then nine weeks each with Mr. Gregg and Mrs. Williams. The counselors will visit various times during the semester.

This is an introductory course which will allow students to explore many different occupations in family and consumer science, business and technology. They will gain a greater understanding of how the “real world works and what they can do to prepare for it. The entire CTE Intro curriculum is exploratory, so the students won’t become experts on anything – they will only get a taste of many different things. This will help them to choose courses for the remainder of their education.

Materials Needed

 One section in a binder for their CTE Intro class (must come to class with them each day)

Also, if it is known that a student has done damage to equipment (computers, 10-key calculators, etc.) then he or she will be expected to pay for the damages. In addition, CTE Intro will follow the school policies on tardies, classroom removals, dress codes, and others.

I encourage you to use the class blog and calendar to see what is happening in class each day. http://blog.weber.k12.ut.us/ancluff

 Classwork/Homework

I will rarely if ever send students home with homework, which means students need to be in class each day to understand the material presented. If a student is absent, it is their responsibility to check with the class assistant when they return to get any missing work.

 Late Work Policy

Late work will be accepted up to the cutoff date posted on the class calendar and board in the classroom. Students will receive a deduction of 25%. If a student is absent, they will have one week to complete any missed work before receiving a deduction.

 Extra Credit

I will periodically offer extra credit assignments. If the student does not take the opportunity to get those extra points when the assignment is given, that is their choice.
