Uncategorized No Comments

Okie Dokey Folks,

Here is all the information for Seussical auditions! You can download everything here. Once school starts you will need to sign up for audition times on the call board! Preparation is the KEY to a good audition!! Can’t wait!

AUDITIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come one, come all! This is going to be an incredible show; full of great music, spectacle, and fun!! Please read all the directions carefully!!!! PLEASE BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF ABOUT YOUR LEVEL OF AVAILABILITY AND COMMITMENT TO THIS PROJECT. MUSICALS ARE DIFFICULT AND THEY DEMAND TIME AND DISCIPLINE!

Step 1: Sign up for a vocal audition (August 27th) on the THEATRE CALL BOARD (in the choir hall)

Step 2: Fill out an audition form (also posted on the call board). Go over the requirements with your parents. Both parents and students need to sign this form before auditioning. Also, pick up the auditioning tips and reminders packet. Remember that you are ALWAYS AUDITIONING. ☺

Step 3: Go to Mrs. Obray’s blog (Blog Address: http://blog.wsd.net/auobray) and choose a character that will best demonstrate your strengths in VOCAL WORK and CHARACTERIZATION. Print your music, learn it (memorize it), and rehearse it with the tracks that are also provided for you.

Step 3: Arrive at your appointed audition time. Come share your vibrance and talent with Mrs. Obray, Mrs. Christison, Mr. Anderson, and Kacee Neff.

Step 4: On Wednesday August 29th,  please head to the auditorium at 3 pm in dance clothes and shoes (if you have them. Ladies may wear character shoes, gore boots, dance paws, ballet slippers, or jazz shoes. Gentleman may also wear dance paw, jazz shoes, gore boots, or hard soled dress shoes. If you do not have dance shoes DO NOT FRET!! They are not required.  Our wonderful choreographer will teach a short dance combination to you. You will have approximately 1 hour to learn and rehearse the combination. We will then call you up in small groups and ask you to perform the combo at least twice. Please wait quietly and support your friends and classmates as they audition. We will excuse you in groups. EVERYBODY WHO WOULD LIKE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A SPEAKING/SINGING/DANCING ROLE MUST ATTEND BOTH A VOCAL AUDITION  AND THE DANCE AUDITION. Plan on being at dance auditions until at least 6:30 pm.

Step 5: Check the Call Board on THURSDAY AUGUST 30TH for a call-back list. REMEMBER that a call-back simply means we would like to see more. If you are not on the call-back list, please do not fret; IT DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE NOT CAST IN THE SHOW!

Step 6: If your name does appear on the call board, head back to Mrs. Obray’s blog (Blog Address: http://blog.wsd.net/auobray) and prepare all the call-back materials (music and reading cuts). BRING THE SCENES AND MUSIC CUTS WITH YOU TO CALL-BACKS!

Step 7: Arrive in the choir room at 3 pm with a smile and your best team player attitude. We will ask you to read various scenes (provided on the blog) in small groupings. This is where we want to see how you respond to fellow cast mates, develop a character, stand you side by side to see if you fit with the other characters, etc. Following the readings, we will quickly sing through the duets (being able to hold a part is supremely important in this musical). We DO NOT want to teach you the music, so please prepare ahead of time. Plan on being at call- backs until at least 8  pm.

Step 8: Check Mrs. Obray’s blog on Saturday for a cast list! ☺

Uncategorized No Comments

Ok my amazing students, here is the cast list. Please please please understand that I do not take casting decisions lightly. Please please please know that I do understand what you feel in a very real way (I’ve been there more times than I can count). Please also know how grateful I am to be surrounded by such fantastic human beings like you. Thank you for your courage to share your talent with me. Remember that a “no” does not mean that you are not talented. I wish I could cast all 42 of you that auditioned.

All my love,

Obray
