Welcome to my Reading Site!  I am wild about reading and I want to share my joy of reading with all those who will listen.

As a child, I couldn’t read enough!  I was given special school library privileges, where I was allowed to go to the library more than once a week.  I had my parents drive me to the public library on a weekly basis.  When I was old enough to ride my bike to the public library, I did so.  I was probably sleep deprived because, every night when I was supposed to be going to sleep, I would secretly read.  I would crawl down under my covers and break out my secret flashlight.  Play after school, then read until late at night.  I had my cake and was able to eat it too!

As a parent, some of my most cherished times involved reading with my children.  I vividly remember holding my younger son in my arms while I was snuggled next to my older son.  We would read book after book, sometimes reading the same book time and again.  Some books I swear I could still recite line by line (and still can this many years later).  Visits to the public library were always an adventure.  We loved reading together and reading was a  predictable part of our day.  My children woke up to books, heard books before naps and bedtime, and anytime else throughout the day when we just needed to cuddle and relax.

As a teacher, I want my students to read well.  But honestly, that is just the tip of the iceberg.  I want my students to crave books, to devour books.  I want my students to feel their hearts beat a little faster as they pick out a new book.  I want my students to talk too fast as they share exciting parts of a book.  I want my students to make books a valuable part of their growing up!
