I’m reading this book for my book club. So far it’s about John Wilke Booth’s plan to kill President Abraham Lincoln. The president at the time was going to a play and while he was there Booth is planning to assasinate him.

This is a really great book! I have already read the entire thing! I can’t believe how smartly these bad guys plan there assasinations. I only thought that abe lincoln was killed but it turns out that it was a double assasination.

I think how sad it is that after abe lincoln was killed everybody thought it was part of the play and just sat around not doing anything to stop him some people tried but htey just got hurt. It’s sad how everbody just lets booth pass them even though they aren’t resposed to let anybody to pass.

so far in chasing Lincolns killer john Wilke Booth’s plan to kill President Abraham Lincoln. when i was reading i could that the kill was going to happen but i did not know when. so it was intense! this book isn’t my favorite it is kinda boring at parts but over all i think it will be a good book!

  7. madison — January 27, 2012 @ 3:29 pm

okay so i knew the kill was going to happen and then…. it did! john Wilke Booth shot Lincoln with a pistol sorta behind the ear. it was a certain type of pistol but i cant remember why. I think that it was stupid that when he was shot everyone thought that it was part of the show. and they did not do anything to help.

this is not my favorite book in the world but all i can say is iv read worse!!!!! its a good historical book but the only part i dont get is why are they talking so much about the secretary when it should be talking about LINCON and his killer. sooo ya!

Right now I”m reading about how John Wilkes Booth and David Herold have to camp out in the woods because they have to cross the river in order to escape the manhunt. The only problem is that they need help from Thomas Jones to cross the river but it has to be at the right time so they don’t get caught. Meanwhile Lewis Powell was arrested.

Now I’m reading about how the government is getting closer to to Booth and Herold. Thanks to Dr. Mudd, they now know that the assasins are going to Virgina. The head start of ten days that Booth and Herold is shrinking.

We are almost done with the book. About 20 pages to go. I am glad i choose this for my book club. I think it is interesting.

chasing lincons killer is about on page20, it says booth left behind no explenation for why he chose the deringer over a revolver. booth was a thrill seeker, so perhaps he wanted to increase his excitement by risking the use of a one-spot pistol. pistols misfire occasionally.

  13. jessica smith — February 2, 2012 @ 3:23 pm

on page 57, it says about across the room, sergant robinson regained his senses. he would fight to the death before he allowed the assassin to murder the secretary and miss. fanny. he charged into powell. in an instant, the two battle hardened civil war veterans grappled in a death struggle. powells strength suprised robinson- he could barely hold on to him as powell went for seward again.

i think it is crazy how instead of charging booth when he was in the barn the first sent an unarmed citizen in! then they tried to reason with him. Why not just rush him with all of your soldiers? If I where in there position that is what I would do.

  15. Tyler Coy — February 2, 2012 @ 3:45 pm

I can believe htat they let booth’s killer get away. First of all booth deserves it he killed the president! Plus booth could have killed a couple of the soldiers that were trying to arrest him. I think it’s osrt of funny how herold thinks he is going ot get away then get’s hanged ironic isn’t it.

Almost done with the book. But I’ve got to say it wasn’t the best book I’ve read. It was kind of boring to me. Anyway they are like talking about the secretary when they should be talkin about lincoln!

  17. Madison Jenkins — February 7, 2012 @ 5:42 pm

Okay so I finished the book and I wish it would have been better. I make it sound like it was a terrible book. But I guess I was hoping for more a mistery/ intense type of book. Anyway I was WAY surprised that they just let John get away! He deserves to be killed. I don’t know what they were thinking I mean it’s like yeah let’s just let the presidents killer get away with it! Haha:)

The book clubs are over but… We finshed the book it was really good. The people who were looking for booth shot him in the neck and killed him. He was taken back to washington and was burried. David herold and one other of his accompices were hung. And the other 2 were in jail for the rest of their lifes.
