I thought the book wasn’t that interesting at first but after a few chapters it got more interesting. I really like the character Russel he sounds really funny and interesting. I wonder what it would feel like to be in shoes for day and go about his life. I really like the brother and how the two of them act around each other it kind of makes me want an older brother who would mess around and scare me like that. I really am staring to enjoy this book alot.

  2. makayla — December 8, 2011 @ 3:09 pm

At first it was confusing and hard to understand but now i get it and it is getting more interesting. its not funny to make me laugh out loud but i do think that scaring people is funny mostly their reactions.

  3. jerod gibson — December 12, 2011 @ 9:09 pm

I thought it as weird when aunt maud said that she would be the next person to die then she got launched out of the cart when the horses got scarded. i thought russell would be my favorite character but now it is tansy because of her being a genius.

  5. Tom Cannon — December 13, 2011 @ 12:39 pm

i love this book. When he had to repair the privy because him and charlie had lit it on fire when they were smoking the buggy whip behind it and then the left it and it all got lit on fire and the entire back was destroyed But the forgot to bring nails and then glenn had brout them.

  6. Tom Cannon — December 13, 2011 @ 12:42 pm

Am i the only one who thinks that Russells dad knows everything even when nobody tells him anything. I think he is my new favorite character now. i guesed it was fanny hamline but it was really aunt maud who was the sweet singer of sycamore township. This is a really good book and one of the best i have ever read.

  7. Tom Cannon — December 13, 2011 @ 12:45 pm

My first post didnt stay so. i thought that it was really weird and just totally direspectful when Miss Myrt Arbuckle died and then tansy just deicided to take the little pointer thing out of her hand when it was the viewing time at the teachers funeral.

  8. megan bindrup — December 13, 2011 @ 4:43 pm

I think that this is a very good book. It is very funny and I agree with Tom Cannon that Russell’s dad knows everything when nobody tells him anything. I love to scare people like Russell scared Lloyd. It is so funny to see their reactions like makayla and megan said. I am really enjoying this book.

  12. jerod gibson — December 15, 2011 @ 5:51 pm

My favorite part so far is when Aunt Fanny Hamline fell into the ditch and couldnt get lifted out of it because she is so big (fat) but thats probaly the best part so far for me, Atleast the most funny just saying from my opinion.

So far “The Teacher’s Funeral” has covered what every good book needs: the death of a teacher, brothers who scare each other, a good dog, and a sister that can get nasty if u dont do what she wants. I enjoy the book so far but I was really sad for the dog when he got the needles stuck in his face. I also learned something, that porcupine needles can be a little poisonous and they have little barbs on the end of them.
I really like the words that were used and how they were said it made the characers more realistic and genuine.

  15. Britnee Myers — December 18, 2011 @ 7:07 pm

I agree with Gracie this poor dog got porcupine needles in his face. This dog when i read that part I felt something poking my face I hate it when someone tells me something that happened to them like how they broke one of their bones and whatever bone it is i feel weird or pain there. Anyways back to the book I fone of my teacher’s died I probably wouldn’t go to their funeral cause it would be creepy and I would feel weird being the only one there with my teacher’s family unless some of my friends that had that teacher came with me. I would probably cry too cause my teachers are awesome! Poor Dog! Merry Christmas to all of you! Keep readin yo! <3 / Britnee Myers

  16. lfolker — December 19, 2011 @ 9:01 am

Thanks for saying your teachers are awesome. It means a lot! I’m really hoping we don’t have to go to any teacher’s fruneral, either!!! YIKES.

  17. Landon — December 19, 2011 @ 8:28 pm

I think this is an ok book. I dont think its very funny but funny in my opinion is probably alot different than alot of people. Ive read a book alot like this one before. Anyone else read any books like this one?

  18. Shad Boswell — December 19, 2011 @ 9:35 pm

I really like this book. It is very good and funny. I think it was funny how when Butchering Day came Eugene got he first shot and hit it right in between the eyes and did everything else perfect.

  19. Shad Boswell — December 19, 2011 @ 9:44 pm

Also I would have not gone to the Dakotas like charlie decided not to go. I would have stayed with my family at home and not left. I think that Charlie made a smart decision. I can”t believe that Charlie and Glen got in a fight over Tansy. That was crazy.

  20. jerod gibson — December 19, 2011 @ 10:02 pm

haha that would suck if we had to go to our favorite teachers funeral :(. but ya i feel bad for the dog getting poked in the face. if you sneezed at anytime during this message bless your face, peace out.

EPICness = Jerod Gibson and others

  21. megan bindrup — December 21, 2011 @ 5:21 pm

  25. Britnee Myers — December 22, 2011 @ 7:54 am

  26. Britnee Myers — December 22, 2011 @ 8:00 am

I loved my group even though one of them got mad at me when I didn’t do my job! Aunt Fanny reminds me of the movie “Robots” Their aunt fanny with a big butt and she farts or toots a lot! hahahahahahahaha:):):):):):):):)

  27. mariyah padilla — December 22, 2011 @ 5:11 pm

  28. mariyah padilla — December 22, 2011 @ 5:12 pm

  29. mariyah padilla — December 22, 2011 @ 5:14 pm

i dont really know what else i should say but i need to do this so. i didnt think that this book was funny or sad i think this book was weird.

  30. mariyah padilla — December 22, 2011 @ 5:15 pm

  31. Britnee Myers — January 2, 2012 @ 8:21 am

This book was really good I like the end how they all got married. It’s gottaa be weird to marry one of your bestest friends.

  32. Britnee Myers — January 2, 2012 @ 8:24 am

I liked this book but not entirely it was good but i’ve read better books like the one I am reading now. I think that if I read this again that I should try and pay more attention to it. The first time I read this book I didn’t pay much attention to it, I just wanted to get my reading done. :) <3/ Britnee Myers :)

  33. Shad Boswell — January 2, 2012 @ 8:53 am

I thought that this book was really good. It wasn’t as funny as I thought it was going to be though, but it was still funny. My favorite character was Russell because he was funny and so were his pranks. Anyways, this book was really good.

  34. makayla — January 2, 2012 @ 3:37 pm

this book is very good.im glad i picked this one. it wasnt funny at first but when i got more into the book it was funny..still it wasnt as funny as i thought.

  35. makayla — January 2, 2012 @ 3:42 pm

i think its funny how russel’s dad invites eugene hammond to the butcher and to see if he was going to marry tansy he would have to know how to kill a pig and stuff.i would get grossed out if i had to do that. but eugene proved them wrong and did better than all people did at killing the pig.

  36. makayla — January 2, 2012 @ 3:45 pm

i really liked the book.i would read it again.i liked how everyone names were at the end with the person the end up marrying. i knew that tansy would marry glenn. my favorite charracter was glenn. he knew alot of stuff and how to catch his own food.

  37. Gracie — January 3, 2012 @ 11:29 am

I Loved the ending of the book and im glad that Glenn and Tansy got to together. I would recommend this book to anyone who was looking for an interesting book to make you laugh. I was glad to be given this book as an assignment and to read it. I wonder if Richard Peck wrote any other books.

  38. Landon — January 4, 2012 @ 6:08 pm

I never understood what Tansys problem was? was she just mean in general?

  39. Landon — January 4, 2012 @ 6:09 pm

It seems like the teachers back then were mean no matter what. Now the teachers are usually pretty cool. Why were they so mean back then?

  40. lfolker — January 5, 2012 @ 8:56 am

I think that society was very different back then. I’m not sure that it was really that they were “mean” so much as discipline methods were different. Parents back then didn’t put up with most of the stuff that kids do now days… It is just a different time period.

  41. Landon — January 4, 2012 @ 6:09 pm

Over all I thought this was an ok book. Wasnt the greatest book ive ever read but it was ok.

  42. Gracie — January 7, 2012 @ 8:28 pm

I wonder what schools would be like now if they still used the same discipline that they used back then. I would really like to experience things from back then to understand the things people did and things that happened in that time period.
