The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks

The Zombie Survival Guide is just that. It is a direct, hands on guide to surviving the zombie apocalypse.  The guide runs through many of the possible scenarios and encounters with zombies that could occur, and recommends the best choice of strategy and weapons for those scenarios.  I recommend this book for anyone who is interested in the all too real threat that zombies pose to the human race, and to anyone who would like to learn how to take positive steps forward in preparing for an inevitable zombie apocalypse.  For those who are not yet ready to accept entirely the theory of zombie armageddon, The Zombie Survival Guide is a fun and enjoyable read nonetheless.

Love Comes Softly by Janette Oke

Book Jacket

The story is about families venturing west to start a new life. Specifically the tragedy that takes place for one young woman and the circumstances that brought her together with a new man and the trials they go through together. A very good story- I loved the book.

Empire by Orson Scott Card

Book Jacket

Empire is a novel that will make you think about life now and the possible near future. The president is assassinated along with several key political people. The uprising group is Americans, not terrorists from other countries. They take over New York and some other places. There are two main characters that the story is told through. It goes through how a possible civil war could happen again. It is intense with action and suspense. If you want a book that is more than brain candy, check this one out.
