Torn by Margaret Peterson HaddixJonah and Katherine travel back in time again to fix the problems that were created when the lost children were snatched out of time and sent to the future. In Torn, they are sent to Henry Hudson’s ship as he was looking for the North West Passage. They are cold and very hungry, and they are about to be part of a mutiny. This has really messed up time, and they may not be able to fix it. If they can’t, all of the future is in trouble. They may not exist!
Little Brother by Cory DoctorowThis book was entertaining, informative, and thought provoking. It’s about Marcus who leads a group of teenagers (and anyone under 25) through the Xnet against the DHS (Department of Homeland Security). Terrorists have blown up the Bay Bridge and Marcus is thought to be part of the terrorist groups and is held secretly in prison. He is finally released and starts to carry out his revenge against the DHS who consider him a terrorist. It explains several alternative technologies that are used in the book. This story could happen tomorrow or could be happening right now. |
