Playing for Pizza by John GrishamThis is not the usual Grisham legal thriller, but a story of a football player who is cut from the Cleveland Browns after playing the worst game in NFL history. Rick only knows football, so agrees to play in Italy for the Panthers of Parma. Language and culture are just two of his obstacles. It’s ok, but I like the legal stories better. Knights of the Hill Country by Tim TharpHigh school football in Oklahoma “ranks next to God and country, and truth be known, sometimes came in first.” Hampton Green is the star senior linebacker and feels the weight of trying for a fifth undefeated season. Situations on and off of the field become increasingly difficult and Hamp must decide to live his life by what feels right or by what is expected. The football scenes were detailed and the family, friendship, and dating parts were equally good. |
