It has been a wonderful week!  We love the sunshine so much!

Last Friday I had the privilege of eating lunch with the Green, Super Team.  It was fun eating with them.  Thanks so much for being so good.

This week we are reading and learning about Cool Jobs. We have finished up our reading testing today.  I am so thrilled to see such wonderful progress.

Our spelling patterns this week include words with the variant vowels -ool, -oom, -oon.  Words include broom  room pool  cool  soon moon  hood  took laugh   ever

In math we are still hitting fact fluency.  We are working with lines of symmetry, finding half and fourths. we will also explore other fractions soon.  Also time and money will beinvestigated.  I have added two links to fun games the kids requested I put on. They are in the post just below this one.

Our scenery is looking amazing and the kids are working on the song.  I have the music up on the blog now, thanks to Mr. Coy’s awesome computer skills.  I am really excited for all of you tosee the first grade operas everyone is working on. See date and time below.

Dear Parents,
Our week is OUT OF THIS WORLD!

The all boy team the Blue Team is our Super Team!  Thanks guys for great behavior: Nyler, Ben, Brandon, Mason and Dominic!

Mason and Andrew have both lost teeth this week. Andrew’s just today at school.

This week we are reading and learning about outer space. Today we read about Neil Armstrong.

Our spelling patterns this week include words with the variant vowels -ook, -ood.  Words include book   took   look  hood   cook  wood  town   mouth   Earth (poper noun)  bear

In math we are still hitting fact fluency.  We are working with lines of symmetry, finding half and we will explore other fractions as well.  Also time and money will beinvestigated.

We are no longer having a big painting day.  We instead are going to work on our scenery each afternoon a little bit at a time.  We have a room set up for us to work in and are thrilled we can be working with smaller groups of children at any given time.  Thank you for sending in buckets and tubs for painting.  We now have plenty:0)

We also regret that it will not be possible to perform the opera for our school due to scheduling conflicts.  We are excited for our evening performance on Friday, May 18th from 6:00-7:30. I hope you all have seen the note showing the seasonal dress your child is wearing in the program.  We will no longer need them to bring in the costumes on May 7th, just have your child come to school dressed the part on the night of the performance.  Thank you so much.

We are having a fantastic week!
The all girl team the Orange Team is our Super Team!  Way to go MaKenzie, Brooke, Elle, Robyn, and Katie!

Abby and Carter both lost teeth this week.  It’s crazy how some months we lose more teeth than others.

OU OW

Our spelling pattern this week introduces diphthong /ou/ ou, ow.  Words include: cow  how town  out  mouse mouth  her  burn  gone   been .  We will be doing our regular writing the
words down paper and pencil test this week. Study those spelling words.

We have also been writing Ouch stories about a time we got hurt.  Playing on the /ou/ sounds.

In math we are hitting fact fluency.  We will be doing math facts daily and you will be seeing their papers come home. Please work on these facts so they become automatic.  We will also be working on some fractions and time.
