November 15-27
Wow! I can’t believe it is already Tuesday afternoon! We are working so hard and our Thanksgiving program is really coming along. I hope you have made arrangements to join us on Tuesday November 22, at 10:00. More details are below and an invitation will be going home tomorrow.
Our Super team last week was the Yellow team! Way to go Ben,
Abby, Devyn, Robyn, Katie, and Ruby! The week before that our Green team won. Those fantastic firsties are Lauren, Andrew, Landon, Brandon, and Tom.
We have lost 4 teeth. Brandon, Hayden (2) and Ben all have new silly smiles.
We are working on digraphs th and sh in our spelling and reading. Our spelling list includes: fish, shop, ship, with, thin, thank, high frequency words many and live, review words
beg and get. Study these nightly so we can reach our goal of 100% of kids getting 100% on their test.
In math we are working on Math Mountains and story problems. Thank you for checking over the homework.
In our reading program/science we are learning about animal habitats this week. In social studies we are learning about Thanksgiving
symbols, turkeys, pilgrims and practicing for our program. We have very full days.
We had a great time last week during Fairy Tale Friday. I don’t know if you heard, but we have been learning about the Gingerbread Man story at school. A few days ago, the Gingerbread Man stole our cookies. He ran off, but left us some clues to find the cookies. We got our cookies back, but still can’t find that Gingerbread Man. I would appreciate it if you would ask
friends and relatives to send us a postcard telling us they have spotted The Gingerbread Man where they live. We will then find their location on a map and keep track of where the Gingerbread Man has traveled. The Gingerbread Man will find his way back to our classroom in January. I will give each child any postcards that were sent to us from their
friends or family members.
Please have them mail a postcard to:
Mrs. Coy’s First Grade Class

Thank you for involving friends and family in this activity. I think the children will love hearing about the travels of The Gingerbread Man while learning some geography.
Here is an example of a postcard:
Dear Mrs. Coy’s Class:
My name is Aunt Bev, I am Jody’s Aunt.
I just wanted to let you know I spotted
The Gingerbread Man here in Texas.
He was wearing a cowboy hat.
He got away before I could catch him.
love, Aunt Bev
This has been a very exciting activity in the past. We had postcards come in from many places in the world last year. If you have any questions please call or email.
