Import Smart Response to MyProgress/MyGrades

Here are the basics from the video.  Steps 1 and 2 need to be done only once.

  1. From MyProgress,do a FRESH export of your class via “Smart”.  If your class was already imported PRIOR to November 2010,you must perform a new export
  2. Import the CSV of your MyProgress class into your class in Teacher Tools
  3. Tag your Smart Response questions,students complete assignment.
  4. Export assignment from Teacher Tools in the method shown from the video
  5. Import assessment into MyProgress

You must have the 2010 version of Smart Response installed. Please have your School Tech update this for you.

To view which version you have,go to “Help”and “About”. This will tell you which version. If it says 2009,you will need the upgrade.

Here is the format for tagging:

Subject:Grade / Class level:Standard number:Objective number

IE
M:03:2:1
or
LA:3:2:1

FA = Fine Arts
H = Healthy Lifestyles
LA = Language Arts
M = Mathematics (MA is ok too)
R = Reading
S = Science
SS = Social Studies
T = Technology
ZZ = Personal and Social Responsibility

Here is a video by Scott Zellmer demonstrating the different tags on the report card:

    Justin,

    Do you know where I could get a digital or hard copy of the tagging codes that Scott was using in his video?

    Jenn

  • Sorry Jen,I don’t. I did a brief search through WeberTube but I couldn’t find anything.

    I’ve been trying to import test results from a sento test into myprogress. When I get to the “Select a File Format”page I don’t see the “AAA-My Grades”to select. How do I get the “AAA-My Grades”file format to show up on the Select a File Format”page?

  • Hi John,you’ll want to involve your School Tech on this,I’ll ask you a few questions in the meantime.
    Do you have the 2010 version of Smart Response installed?
    Have you done an export of your class since November 2010?
    Are you on Windows 7 or XP?
    Let your Tech know those answers and we’ll have a better idea of what the problem is. Thanks.

    Is there any way to tag a question to more than one objective?

  • I asked Patrick Huxley about this,here is his reply:

    Currently,This is not possible in Smart (multiple tags),but once the GB import screen fills the list with assessments from Smart,she can double-click (sometimes double-double-click?) the assessment to pull up a screen where she can choose multiple standards and/or objectives (Hold down Ctrl or Shift key to select multiple S&O)

    Let me know of any other questions!

    Pat

    When making a test using the Smart Response,you can assign multiple tags to a question by separating the tags with a semicolon (;)ex LA:4:5:6;LA:4:5:7

    Thank you!

    Great video tutorials,but I’m having a few issues. When I import the class list,there are 2 students who do not import. It says their student numbers are already in use,but I can’t see that.

    When I’m importing/exporting the tests to myProgress,it says “a standard must be selected to import.”I already tagged every question when I created the test. What am I doing wrong?

  • Hi Sharon,sorry,you’ll have better luck having your Tech look at that to make sure you’ve got all of the requirements met. I’m installing new computers here at Roy High this month so my time is short :(
