WWII / Holocaust Novels

Third quarter we will be learning a lot about WWII and the Holocaust through our study of Anne Frank and through our paired novel assignment. For the paired novel assignment you are to read either individually or as a reading group a novel that takes place in the same era as the Holocaust and WWII and deals with events related to it. Your novel can be fiction or non-fiction, and must be over 100 pages. We will do projects as we read with this book as well as writing a final essay working between both The Diary of Anne Frank and your novel of choice.

Here are some resources to help you find a novel:

Goodreads popular YA Holocaust/WWII novels list

NOJH Library WWII/Holocaust novels list

Books recommended at WSD literacy conference:

The Boys in the Boat (young readers adaptation) by Daniel James Brown

Caleb’s Wars by David Dudley

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
