Spanish 1 Lessons, Activities & Assignments – MAY 2018

5/1 Practice regular verbs (Kahoot)
5/2 Verb worksheet
5/3 Learn /Review common irregular verbs (ser, estar, tener, ir, hacer).
Add them on to your verb conjugation charts.
5/4 Celebrating Cinco de Mayo with a fiesta:. You may bring Mexican (or
“Tex-Mex” or Mexican-American) food to eat; extra credit if you bring
enough for everyone in your class.

5/8 Quiz on regular verb conjugation (present tense). Also turn in the verb worksheet

5/9 Learn to describe the weather in Spanish (PowerPoint and Worksheet)
5/10 Begin working on “Weather & Seasons Project”
(instructions are on the blog if you don’t have them)
5/11 Continue working on “Weather & Seasons Project”

5/14 Oral activity: Describe the scenes you drew for the “Weather & Seasons Project.”
Then practice the weather vocabulary (Flash Cards)
5/15 Finish oral presentations if not done yet.
Then practice the “weather vocabulary” (vocabulary bingo).
5/16 Do “Listening Assessment.” Sing “La Cucaracha.” (Memorize it to sing for extra credit)
Then discuss and answer unit 7 questions.
5/17 Sing “La Cucaracha” for extra credit. Discuss / check answers to the unit 7
questions, THEN PRACTICE FOR ORAL EXAM.
5/18 Oral Exam – using the unit 7 questions.

5/21 RETESTING / MAKEUP FOR ORAL EXAM
BRING YOUR PESOS THURSDAY FOR AUCTION
5/22 Learn parts of the body in Spanish, including song “cabeza, hombros, …”

CINCO DE MAYO ACTIVITIES

All Spanish classes will have a Cinco de Mayo party during class on Friday May 4.  Chips, salsa, and drinks will be provided.

Students are also welcome to bring their own food, and may earn extra credit for brining Mexican Food to share with the class.

 

On Monday May 7 there will be a Spanish Club party after school  – with free churros and other treats.

3/2 Watch Video projects. Present any slide shows that have not yet been done.

3/5 Oral Practice and Presentation: questions about classes and school.
3/6 Quiz on Unit 6 (School and class vocabulary). Then learn to tell time in Spanish (L/D with clock manipulative); practice with partner (both ways).
3/7 Learn to tell time and discuss schedules (Power Point and guided practice worksheet)
3/8 Study & Practice for oral final exam
3/9 Study & Practice for oral final exam

3/12-3/14 Oral final exam

3/15 Auction – bring your pesos to buy treats. Makeup oral final exam for students who were absent.
Retesting during flex time or before/after school.

1/3 Learn to tell what different people like to do, using different forms of “gustar”
(PowerPoint with oral practice questions, then assignment: Write 5 sentences about different people, telling different activities that they like to do. )
1 /4 Read your sentences from yesterday, then do 1st semester post-assessment.
1 /5 Discuss Final Exam Questions, work on answering them. (questions are posted on Mr. Powell’s blog)

Food, Fun, and Games!

Christmas Party for all Spanish students on Thursday, Dec. 14
2:40 p.m- 3:30 p.m. (Cleanup 3:20-3:30)

Pay $2 in the office to come enjoy Mexican Food, and drinks.

(Cost would be $5 each, but we are paying for most of it from the fundraiser)

(or bring your own Hispanic food (Mexican, Argentine, Tex-Mex, etc.)
