When we get to the center, we will have a 1/2 mile hike up to the lodge. We will then have an orientation and be given directions on how to use the equipment. Then we will have you go with your group to each activity on your schedule. We will have 2 activities before lunch and one after lunch. Then we will head back to the bus. Please make sure everyone in your group has all their things and please make sure they each get on the bus. Then you can head home. Also it is Weber School District policy that only your child may ride to or from the field trip with you. Sorry – but that’s the rule I have to live by. Thanks for your help. It’ll be a great day!!!!

Math Groups 9/14/11
Hi Parents, Thank you for volunteering to help with our math groups. We actually will not be having math groups this first month of school. Right now we are getting our procedures in place. However, I will probably be starting them around the 2nd week in Oct. I will contact you and let you know for sure. If any of you would like to help with reading groups in the morning, I could use a volunteer for Tuesday 9:30-11:45 and Thurs. 9:30-11:45. Actually I could use help any day. But these are the 2 days that I do not have anyone coming and without help, I can not get all the reading groups done. Thanks for your help and support and remember I’ll be contacting you in October. Thanks, Marcia Bruner
Reading Groups 9/14/11
Hi Ladies! I’m finally getting my reading ready for reading groups. I’d like to start next week, if possible. I’m planning on starting my groups at 9:30 . You would have 2 separate groups. Each for a half hour. You would take your group into the alcove. I will give you the books, papers and instructions for what to do with the groups. You will do the same thing for each group. Each group will have 6 children. They read outloud into their reading phones (except the 2 or 3 children that I will tell you – they will take turns reading a whole page outloud to you. As each child finishes their book. They do the worksheet that you give them by themselves. When the last child in the group is done reading, you have them all do the worksheet together. If a child has finished his paper, he has to check his paper and make sure every answer is right. If a child hasn’t even started the paper, he has to write in the answers as you go along. Then there are several questions that you ask the group about the book they read. I have the questions for you. This is the first time they have been in a group. So you probably won’t get finished this first time. But we are on a very tight schedule because of recess. So you have to send them back to their seats when the half hour is over. Don’t worry, they will get faster and eventually you’ll get through it all. I have this all written down and will give it to you when you come. I was wondering if you could possibly stay until 11;45. Then I would have you do fluency timings after recess. Email me back and let me know. I have down that Jamie is coming Mondays at 9:30, Cindy Wednesdays at 9:30 and Mindy Fridays at 9:30. Let me know if that is still going to be OK. If you know of anyone else that would like to volunteer, I still need someone for Tuesday and Thursday. Thanks for your help and support. If you have questions, concerns, or just need to talk, call me at 801-452-4580 or email me at mbruner@wsd.net
Tomorrow is our Environmental Center field trip. Be sure to be to school on time. The bus leaves at 8:30. Please wear warm clothes. Even though it is warming up, it is still cold in the mountains. We plan on spending most of the day outside, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. So please dress accordingly. Wear boots, gloves, hats and snow clothes. (coats, snow pants, etc.) We recommend dressing in layers. That way if you get too hot you can peel down to the next layer and still stay warm. Also, please label all items of clothing: boots, gloves, hats, scarves, coats, even sun glasses.
