I just wanted to say, “This one time at Band Camp…I was really impressed!” I was amazed at what we were able to accomplish. My wish is that it continues. Don’t forget all the things you learned at camp! Continue to have a positive attitude and PRACTICE! This show is going to be awesome. Things will come faster, if you continue to put in the effort. Remember, our goal is to have the show music MEMORIZED by Wednesday’s practice on Aug. 4th. The only way that will happen, is by picking up your instrument BEFORE then.
Do your best and…“You can do it!” See y’all on Wednesday!
First, let me just say that everyone did an awesome job in the parade today! We had fun, eh? You guys looked good, sounded good, and had great energy! Way to go! In fact, I was so impressed that I totally forgot to mention, after the parade, that I had discounted Lagoon tickets for anyone who wanted them. The voucher is good for $28.00 admission (instead of $42.95). The only problem is that they will expire Monday, July, 26th. So if anyone wants a ticket, call me or Sandie, leave a comment to this post, or drop me an e-mail ASAP and we’ll get a ticket to you! Thanks again! GO ROY!!!!!
UPDATE: The stack of discounted tickets are wedged in the back door of the White Band trailer, parked in front of the H.S. band room. Please be courteous and take only what you will actually use! Remember, they’re only good through Monday.
Kelsie Wahlstrom and Lexi Call will be participating in the Miss Roy scholarship pageant, July 31st @ 7:00 PM @ Roy High School. Recently, they were featured in the Standard-Examiner. Check out the article!

Here is the schedule for Saturday, July 24th:
8:15 AM – Meet @ 32nd and (East Side) WASHINGTON. WASHINGTON will be closed (@ 5:00 AM) so you will need to use ADAMS & JEFFERSON Avenues with 31st, 32nd, & 34th Streets to help you arrive at our line-up location. You will need to provide your own ride.
9:00 AM – Parade begins. We are entry # 103. The parade route will follow WASHINGTON Blvd. from 31st Street to 20th Street. (That’s about 1.6 miles, or roughly 6 1/2 times around the track.)
11:00 AM – Approximate time we should be done. Please have your rides meet you at 21st Street on the West side. That is where we will end. Traffic will be heavy so plan accordingly.
We will have the trailer available to haul the larger instruments (drumline, tubas, etc.), which we’ll load after Thursday’s rehearsal.
SUMMER PARADE UNIFORM: Band T-Shirts, Black Band Shorts, Marching Shoes.
Today after practice, I had the pleasure of going to lunch with Mr. Paul Hermann and the Roy Jr. Band Council. After some delectable Chinese food, we each received our customary fortune cookie. Mine read, “You shall soon achieve perfection.” I think it was referring to the band, not me. Besides, I’m already perfect. (Totally, not true!)
I just want you guys to know that you’re doing an amazing job! For those that didn’t pass-off ALL your music—don’t give up! Just keep working on what you know you need to work on, and great things will happen. In fact, we’re going to be perfect, my fortune assures us of this…no pressure!
Which version of the 2010 Field Show Poster do you like the best? The regular version, or the more antique-looking version?
If you think you don’t have anything to practice, watch this video by Kirk Whalum, and you’ll see that there’s Always Something To Work On!
