haircut

In a small town, there are only two barbers.  One of them has a neat haircut that looks really well done.  The other has a messy haircut that looks poorly done.  Who should you choose to go to when you need your haircut?  Explain your answer.

I will post the real answer in a couple days.

Union is strength

Make sure to check out the “videos” tab on my blog to see the movie clips that we discuss in class.

Today, students had a funeral for putdowns and learned how to work together in their teams.  How much fun did you have building those tin can towers?

2 Truths and 1 Trick

August 26th, 2015 by sahone

Hello

Here is a “Getting to Know You” game…

I am going to tell you two things about myself that are true, and one thing that is not true.  It is your job to comment and guess which one is the trick!  Then also comment your own “2 Truths and 1 Trick!”  I will try to guess which one is not true.  You can even comment on each other and guess about other people in the class.

Here are mine:

1.   My favorite food is sushi.
2.  I have held a monkey.
3.  I have ridden on an elephant.

Love,

Mrs. Hone

Image result for reading

Hopefully you are all familiar with the “Superintendent Summer Reading Award.”  If you read 10 books or 1,000 pages over the summer, then the Superintendent of the School District will come into our class, give you a certificate, and shake your hand!

This year is special because there is an added Summer Math Award.  I will be sending a paper copy to you in the mail, but here is a link to the form electronically along with a 2nd form that will give you ideas about how to practice your math fluency.

It’s not too late to get started NOW.  Have fun!

August 11th, 2015 by sahone

Here I am going to teach you how to comment on my blog since you will be asked to leave comments all year long.  After this post, there will be a small underlined link that says “no comments,” or after a while, it may have a number like “8 comments.”

  • Click on the link that tells you the number of comments
  • Type your first name or nickname into the top box (no need for last names)
  • Type your email address, your parent’s email address, or even MY email address in the second box
  • Leave the third little box blank
  • In the big box at the bottom, type your response to my post

Let’s try it!  Leave a comment to tell me what your favorite part of your summer vacation was.  Then, tell me one reason why you are or are not excited to come back to school.

Good Luck!
