“Imagine that something that cannot talk could suddenly speak.  Your choice can be any object – a tree, a light bulb, a car, an old pair of blue jeans.  (don’t pick an animal.  They already “speak” with purrs and barks and growls.)  Now, think about what your object would say.  Would it speak in a sweet or a gruff voice?  What kind of personality do you imagine this object would have?  Write a story in which you describe this amazing talking object.”
