January 2017: Happy New Year! Here’s what’s coming up:

*If your student is struggling with math… there’s several options and opportunities to get help during school and outside of school hours!

    • Before & after school math tutoring with both Mr. Wooten and Mr. Denny. Mondays from 2:30-3, Tuesdays from 7-7:30 & 2:30-3 and Fridays from 7-7:30.
    • Advisory is the last 26 minutes of the day. Students can move to different teachers on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
    • Peer tutoring – Many of our 9th grade honors students are volunteering their time during Advisory. Please contact Mrs. Roane to set this up.
    • Working Lunch Program – Miss Leibold is our student advocate and helps students with their homework during lunchtime and Advisory.
    • WHS students offer tutoring outside of school hours. Mrs. Roane has a complete list with contact information, many of which are on a volunteer basis and some require a small fee hourly.

*There are several scholarship opportunities available for junior high students! Here is January’s short essay contest:  and is worth $5,000: https://www.unigo.com/scholarships/our-scholarships

*NJHS Donut Party: Thursday, November 17th all National Junior Honor Society members are invited to attend our annual donut party during Advisory. You must have paid your $10 annual fee.

*Mix-It-Up Lunchtime Activity: Each year we have a Mit-It-Up lunchtime where students are assigned to sit by other students randomly. This is to encourage students to get to know others in the school and learn something about others. We will have games and activities to promote chit chat and give away prizes. This will be on Tuesday, November 29th during both lunches.
