We wrote christmas poems today!

Sant Claus

Who comes on Christmas Eve?

Santa Claus with his sleigh?

With all the toys for all the kids about to shout hooray!

Who says Ho- Ho- HO with a big red suit?

Santa with his sleigh.

About to eat some cookies and get back on his sliegh.

Who drinks milk in one big gulp and flighs of on his way?

Santa Claus with his sleigh.

Thank you for the FROG donations, snacks and supplies! I appreciate all of your support.

Yesterday was the Go For The Gold Assembly and it was a success.  Our grade is doing bad-mitten for our event.  Yes, I did make a fool of myself, I do not have hand eye coordination but it was fun anyway!  I think I need to practice.

This is what we have been doing in class!

Vocabulary- compound words

Comprehension- characters,setting, beginning, middle, end

Grammar-sentences

Reading Fluency- reading while paying attention to punctuation

The students have been taking a math assessment, it is very long so they have been doing one page a day, they also completed a Dibels  reading fluency test yesterday. We will be doing a couple more tests in other areas and when I get the results I will call you to let you know how they did.

We have a couple students forgetting their FROGS, remind them to bring them everyday. Don’t forget reading slips are due every Friday.  The students get paid or a treat when they bring back their homework on time,so remind them to put it in their FROGS.

Friday, August 26th, 2011

We had a great first week!  We learned school procedures and class rules.  Next week we will be getting paid for good behavior, so ask your child how much they made each day.

Today we celebrated Hayden’s Birthday.  Happy Birthday Hayden!  Monday we will celebrate Kiera’s Birthday.  Happy Birthday Kiera!

Today we filled the frog with a few items, spelling, fluency, and a math homework.  Math is due Monday; spelling and fluency is due Friday.

Please make sure your child is reading everyday for atleast 20 minutes, and turn in the Ken Garff reading slips on Friday.

September 1st is the Go For the Gold- kick off assembly.  3rd Grade’s Country is Spain.  We are the Zaccardi’s Bullfrogs.   If  someone can draw and color 2 Bullfrogs dressed as an El Matador -8×11, by Monday, that would be Awesome. We have to have our flag completed by Monday.  The kids are going to paint the flag on Monday.  If you have ever been to Spain, please come and talk to our class.

Dibels testing is on September 1st, so practice fluency-expression, steady pace, smooth reading (read all the way to the period or comma, then pause).

We will start using volunteers September 6, 2011, let me know if you want to volunteer in the classroom consistently through out the year.
